ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – 2nd-ranked Emory University posted a decisive 9-0 victory over the University of Rochester men's tennis team in the quarterfinals of the UAA men's tennis championship on Thursday afternoon at Sanlando Park.

Emory (15-3), the defending NCAA Division III National Champions, won all six singles matches in straight sets and did not surrender more than two games in any set in both singles or doubles.

The loss drops UR's record to 7-12 on the year and into the consolation round of the tournament. Rochester will square off with 5th-seeded and #14 ranked Brandeis on Friday. Emory will play #10 Washington-St. Louis in the semifinals.

The Eagles started off with 8-1 wins at #2 and #3 doubles. The team of Adrien Bouchet and Max Renke topped
Damani Eubanks and
Peter Huang at 2nd doubles, while Emory's Jonathan Jemison and Hayden Cassone won at #3 over
Mattias Hartveit and
Jun Yuminaga.

UR's #1 doubles team of
Masaru Fujimaki and
Yifan Shen saw a similar fate, dropping an 8-2 decision to Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding.

In singles, Fujimaki battled with Jemison, the NCAA's #4 ranked individual, but lost 6-2, 6-0 at #1, while Yuminaga fell 6-1, 6-1 at #2 to Hayden Cassone.

Shen was defeated 6-1, 6-0 at #3 by Alec Josepher while
Tanmay Thakkar dropped a straight set match to Bouchet, losing 6-1, 6-2.

Huang had the most success out of UR's lineup in singles, taking two games in each set against Andrew Harrington at #5. At #6, Hartveit lost 6-0, 6-0 to Rubinstein.

Friday's consolation match is scheduled for a 2 pm start.
