Tanmay Thakkar picked up the University of Rochester men's tennis teams lone point in an 8-1 loss to 14th-ranked Brandeis University in the consolation semifinals at the UAA Tennis Championships on Friday afternoon.

Thakkar was a straight set winning at 4th singles, winning 6-1, 6-3 over Zach Cihlar. UR's
Yifan Shen, playing at #3 singles, took his opponent, Tyler Ng, to three sets, but ultimately fell 6-7, 6-0, 6-1.

The four other remaining singles matches went in straight sets in favor of the Judges (14-4). Rochester meanwhile, falls to 7-13 on the season.

In doubles, Brandeis got off to a 3-0 start, winning all three points. Rochester's #2 doubles team of
Damani Eubanks and
Peter Huang were the toughest out, losing 8-6 to Jackson Kogan and Ng.

At #1, the 9th-ranked duo of David Aizenberg and Anupreeth Coramutla won 8-2 over Shen and
Masaru Fujimaki. That was coupled with an 8-3 win at #3 doubles from Brandeis' Nikhil Das and Rajan Vohra over
Mattias Hartveit and
Sahaj Somani.

Rounding out singles action was Fujimaki falling at #1 to Aizenberg (7-5, 6-0) and
Jun Yuminaga dropping a decision to Kogan at #2 (6-1, 6-1).

At #5, Huang lost to Benjamin Wolfe (6-3, 6-2) while Somani was dropped by Ethan Saal (6-2, 6-4).

In the final round of play at the UAA Championships, Rochester will play NYU for 7th place at 9 am. Brandeis will play for 5th against Case Western Reserve University.
