Three individuals from the University of Rochester men's tennis team have received Academic All-District ® honors from the College Sports Communicators for the 2025-26 season, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in at least 75 percent of an institution's days of competitions.
The Yellowjackets honorees are senior
Surya Rajamani, junior
Ethan Samora and sophomore
Alan Wang.
On the court this season, Wang received All-Association honors within the UAA for the second straight year, being named Honorable Mention as URochester's second singles player. Overall, the sophomore finished with an 8-11 singles record and 4-13 win-loss mark in doubles play. He was a four-time double-winner in the 2026 season, earning that distinction against Nazareth, RIT, Randolph and Shenandoah. He competed in both singles and doubles play at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships back in the fall.
Academically, Wang is studying Financial Economics at the University. He received UAA All-Academic accolades for his efforts in the classroom this spring and earned ITA Scholar Athlete praise last season.
Samora finished the season appearing in all 19 dual matches in either singles or doubles play. He finished with records of 6-7 overall in singles and 4-18 in doubles competition. In singles, Samora reached the quarterfinals of the St. Lawrence Fall Classic and also represented the Yellowjackets at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships in both singles and doubles. He played positions four through six on the singles ladder for the 'Jackets and was primarily in UR's number one doubles pair during the regular season and into the conference tournament.
Away from tennis, Samora is majoring in Computational Biology and Statistics with a minor in Spanish. He was elected Phi Beta Kappa as a junior and also received Provost Circle Scholar honors in 2025-26. He also has received the Dean's Scholarship and the Greene Center Education Grant from the University. Samora has worked in the Hayes Lab at the UR Medical Center and has been a teacher's assistant in multiple courses during his academic career. Additionally, he is going to be interning over the summer at the Cleveland Clinic and has previously done internships at Nationwide Children's Hospital and University Hospitals. He is a 2-time UAA All-Academic honoree from URochester's conference and has twice been honored as an ITA Scholar Athlete.
For Rajamani, the senior capped his Yellowjackets career by appearing in 16 dual matches this season, four of which he played in both singles and doubles. Over those contests, Rajamani picked up four total victories. He also competed at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships in doubles and was a member of the 'Jackets lineup in both singles and doubles for two of URochester's three UAA Tournament contests. He previously earned All-UAA honors for his play on the court as a member of the Yellowjackets first doubles team in 2024-25, being named to the All-Association Second Team.
In the classroom, Rajamani will earn his degree from the University in Business. He is a member of VSAAC and is also Portfolio Manager and Analyst Director for the student-run Meliora Fund. Rajamani also received the Dean's Scholarship, been a three-time UAA All-Academic and ITA Scholar-Athlete and previously received Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators. He has interned at EM Mutual Fund and Lex Hills Capital while previously working with Putnam Investments and KSI. His volunteer efforts include working at home in local soup kitchens, nursing homes and assisting with food and clothing drives.
Academic All-District selections will be evaluated by a sub-committee and advanced to the national, All-America ballot, to be voted on by CSC members within their respective divisions.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's tennis honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
