The University of Rochester men's basketball team traveled to New York City on Friday night to face off against conference opponent New York University Violets. The Yellowjackets and the Violets squared off a week ago in Rochester, in what turned out to be a 71-55 UR victory.

Rochester got off to a really slow start as NYU opened up the game on a 7-0 run.
Andrew Lundstrom put Rochester on the board with 16:23 left in the first half, following an easy and-one lay in. Rochester would even the score at seven with 15:13 left in the half. The Violets would quickly respond with a 9-0 run.
The Yellowjackets and Violets would end up going back and forth for a majority of the first half. UR would take their first lead of the game after Lundstrom made 2 free throws with 30 seconds remaining to give the Yellowjackets a 33-32 lead. Rochester would holdoff the Violets on the defensive end to preserve the one-point lead at the half.

As a team, Rochester shot 41.4% from the floor and 85.7% from the line in the first half. Lundstrom and
Ryan Clamage led the way for UR, scoring 11 points and 10 points respectively.

Rochester would flip the script in the second half. After leading for only a total of 30 seconds in the first half, Rochester took control of the score for a majority of the second half. The Yellowjackets took the lead with 15:47 left in the second half and never look back. UR would lead by as many as 12 on their way to a 66-63 victory.
Clamage and Lundstrom led the way for the Yellowjackets. Clamage finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds while Lundstrom posted 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Trent Noordsij and
Ryan Algier each made strong contributions off the bench for UR. Noordsij tied his career-high of 10 points, while Algier finished with 9 points and 3 rebounds in 13 minutes of play.

After shooting 50% from the floor in the first half, the Violets only shot 35% in the second half. NYU was lead by Dom Cristiano, who posted 19 points and 9 rebounds off the bench, and Jimmy Martinelli, who had 11 points and 8 rebounds.

With the win, Rochester moves to 15-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play. The Yellowjackets will travel to Waltham, MA on Sunday as they are set to take on Brandeis University at noon. Â
