NEWPORT BEACH, CA – The University of Rochester men's tennis team came away with another 6-3 victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Wheaton College of Massachusetts during the teams spring break California trip at the Palisades Tennis Club.

UR's win follows a 6-3 defeat of San Diego Christian College from Monday.

Rochester started out winning two of three doubles matches, all of which were tight affairs.  Sahaj Somani and Peter Huang won 8-5 over Ned Roosevelt and David Hernaez Sanz at #3 to earn the matches first point.  Masaru Fujimaki and Runjia Fang followed suit, winning by an identical score at #1 for Rochester giving the Yellowjackets a 2-0 lead.  Fujimaki and Fang topped Ian Tracy and Javier Esteban de Celis.

At #2 doubles, the Lyons' duo of Jorge Aguirre Martinez and Jeremiah Ryser won a back-and-forth match by an 8-7 score over Tanmay Thakkar and Yifan Shen.

Fang opened singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 win at #2 over Esteban de Celis, pushing Rochester up 3-1.

The next two matches the teams traded points.  Zach Strempel won at #6 6-3, 6-4 over Huang while Shen won 6-3, 6-2 over Ryser at #3, making the score 4-2 UR.
