The University of Rochester men's tennis team got back to its winning ways, defeating visiting Stevens Institute of Technology 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Goergen Athletic Center.

The 33rd-ranked Yellowjackets (10-2), who started the season with nine straight wins, rebounded after a brief two-match losing streak. Stevens drops to 4-8 on the year with its loss. Sunday's pairing was between two regionally ranked squads in the Northeast region in the latest ITA rankings, with Rochester ranked #11 and Stevens coming in at #14.

Sahaj Somani and
Pasquale Procaccino earned the matches first point at #2 doubles, posting a dominant 8-2 performance over Mark Kanevsky and Arjun Krishnan. The third doubles pairing of
Tanmay Thakkar and
Yifan Shen earned an 8-5 win over Keegan Morris and Garrett Kincaid.

Zolotukhin rallied at #6 singles for the final point.
At first doubles, it was a regionally ranked battled, with UR's
Masaru Fujimaki and
Runjia Fang, #8 regionally ranked in the Northeast, falling to #4 regionally ranked Marc Feliu Gomez and Bryan Szayna by an 8-5 score. After doubles, Rochester was up 2-1.

Once singles play started, the Yellowjackets jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two matches, with Shen and Fujimaki posting wins of 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-1 respectively. Shen won over Kanevsky at #3 and Fujimaki won at #1 over Gomez. The Fujimaki-Gomez match was another face-off between regionally ranked foes, as the two are ranked #17 and #18 in the region, respectively.

After Stevens got another point at #4 when Thakkar was beaten 7-5, 6-2 by Morris, Fang closed out the Yellowjacket win with a three-set victory over Szayna at #2, rallying from 1-4 down in the third set

Closing out the match were #5 and #6 players Somani and
Mark Zolotukhin. Somani fell to Krishnan 6-3, 6-4, while Zolotukhin edged his opponent Kincaid in three sets, 4-6, 6-4 and 10-5.

Rochester's next match is home against St. Lawrence University on April 6th at 1 pm.
