A magnificent four-year career on the softball field and in the classroom for Harleigh Kaczegowicz comes to a close with the 2019 graduate earning Google Cloud Academic All-American ® honors for the 2019 season from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Kaczegowicz, who was selected to the 3rd Team, becomes just the second Yellowjacket softball player to ever earn Academic All-America honors.  She joins Jessica Sorrentino who was a 2nd Team AAA selection in 2008.

With the honor, Kaczegowicz becomes the 106 Academic All-American in Rochester history, and fourth during the 2018-19 academic year.  This was her second time being considered for AAA honors, as she was a 1st Team All-District selection back in 2017 as well.

The Trumbull, Connecticut native was one of Rochester's top players throughout her career, ranking top-10 in school history in average, slugging percentage, doubles, on-base percentage, runs, hits, total bases and stolen bases.

Kaczegowicz is UR's second softball
Academic All-American.

On the field, she was a Liberty League honorable mention selection this season and was also awarded 3rd Team All-Region accolades from the NFCA.  In 2019, she finished with a .326 average (44-135) with 32 runs scored, 13 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 27 RBI's and 10 stolen bases.  Her runs, doubles, HR and RBI totals were all career-bests.

Off the field, Kaczegowicz graduated with a 3.86 cumulative grade point average majoring in Mechanical Engineering.  She was named to the Dean's list every semester, and elected Phi Beta Kappa during the spring.  She also was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and was selected as a UR Garnish Scholar, given to Rochester's top-10 senior student athletes.  She was named a 3-time All-Academic selection in the Liberty League as well.

Kaczegowicz worked as a summer intern at B.M.L. Tool and Manufacturing Corporation.  Her senior design project involved her creating a wood vehicle that was powered by a standard power drill.  She also conducted research of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) performance of a CNC Mill, a device which measures the geometry of physical objects by sensing surface points with a probe.

Volunteer work that she participated in included working with special needs students at TOPSoccer and serving at the Child Care Center for Jewish Senior Services.
