HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Rochester erupted for two goals in a span of just over two minutes to start the second half and that inspired a 5-0 women's soccer victory over Houghton College late Saturday afternoon.

Robin de John scored twice for the Yellowjackets.
Megan Pung,
Sarah Martin, and
Syd Coggins scored one apiece. Martin and
Emma Cohen assisted on de Jong's second goal.

Rochester improved to 6-3-4 overall. The Yellowjackets are 0-1-3 in the University Athletic Association. Houghton is 5-9-1 with the loss to UR. The Highlanders are 0-6-1 in the Empire 8.

The Yellowjackets launched their attacks as soon as the game began. Rochester outshot Houghton 18-1 in the first half, 40-3 overall. Houghton goalkeeper Megan Merrifield made 19 saves – nine in the first 45 minutes, 10 in the second 45 minutes.

Rochester's goalkeeper was
Emma Schechter for the initial 71:39. She was replaced by
Becca Rust for the last 18:21. Schechter made one save.

Pung broke up the 0-0 game barely two minutes into the second half (47:13). At 49:17, de Jong made it 2-0. The same thing happened seven minutes later: Martin netted a goal at 56:44 and de Jong, assisted by Martin and Cohen, increased the lead to 4-0 at 58:24. Coggins' goal at 66:30 completed the scoring.
