Brandeis Women Edge Rochester, 2-1

WALTHAM – Brandeis University edged Rochester 2-1 in a women's soccer match that saw the Yellowjackets denied on several chances – one when the match was still tied and then with a potential equalizer in the final three minutes.

The Judges improved to 10-4-2 overall, 3-3-0 in the UAA. The Yellowjackets are 6-5-4 overall, 0-3-3 in the UAA. Rochester will host Emory University this coming Saturday on Senior Day at the Brian Prince Athletic Complex.

Early in the second half, Rochester earned a corner kick.  Cesca Sheppard lined it to Liv Penegor whose header was saved by Hannah Bassan in the Brandeis goal. The rebound landed in a scrum. Penegor managed to get the ball to Syd Coggins who knocked it home. The Yellowjackets had a chance to break the tie in the 57th minute. Penegor fired from distance and the ball crashed against the crossbar.

Ngoma set up the gamewinner for Brandeis in the 65th minute. She sent a good cross into the middle where Juliette Carreiro scored from up close. In the closing minutes, Jodyn Kowalkowski fired from close range and the ball was cleared away by a Brandeis defender.
