Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The first game on the court for Rochester's women's basketball team was a rousing success on Thursday evening. Rochester defeated Bryant & Stratton College of Buffalo, 60-48, at The Park School here.

Bryant & Stratton (6-4) entered the game with a 6-3 overall record. The Bobcats won four of their first five this season and posted victories in two of their last three games before the game vs. the Yellowjackets (1-0). The same two teams are scheduled to play at the Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester on Wednesday evening. The game will be closed to spectators.

Five letterwinners formed the starting lineup for the Yellowjackets: junior
Julianna Okoniewski and sophomore
Callie McCulley at the forward spots with three sophomores in the backcourt:
Kelsey Stites,
Alexis Sestric, and
Hannah Lindemuth. UR brought three first-years off the bench: Kathryn Jenks in the backcourt,
Abby Gress and
Haley Dumiak up front.
Lindemuth scored a game-high 15 points. Sestric had 14. Okoniewski had eight points and eight boards. McCulley grabbed a career high 11 boards and scored five points. First-years Jenks (10 pts., seven rebounds) and Dumiak (8 pts.) did well off the bench. Jenks logged 24 minutes. Dumiak scored her eight points in five minutes.
The leaders for Bryant & Stratton were Oumy Gueye with 13 points, Armoni Jordan with 11, and Nia Caver with eight. The Bobcats scored 34 of their 48 points inside. Rochester had 24 points in the paint. All the other field goals came from the perimeter - three from long range. Second chance points were even at eight apiece.

Rochester trailed after the first quarter, 14-12. The Yellowjackets led at the half, 27-18, through the strength of a 10-0 run in the latter stages of the second quarter. B&S scored six quick points in the third quarter to pull within five, 27-24. UR answered with a 10-2 run to go up by 11, 37-26. That 11-point margin stood through three periods.

The Bobcats kept battling. B&S took advantage of a couple of turnovers in fuel an 8-2 run over the first three minutes of the last quarter. Two fast break layups and another layup after a steal and a lead pass pulled the hosts within 46-41.

Lindemuth answered with a runner in the lane to snap the UR cold streak. A 6-0 run ended on an eight-footer by Sestric (52-41).
