Pasquale Procaccino was a double winner for the men's tennis team in a season-opening match against Hobart College on Sunday. The Statesmen won the team match, 7-2.

Procaccino teamed with
Kai Yuminaga to defeated Walker Anderson and Jett Wright, 8-1. That gave Rochester a 1-0 lead. Hobart won at second and third doubles to carry a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Antony Georgiadis and
Connor Wagner formed Rochester's second doubles team (Thomas Shung and Guthrie Speers of Hobart won, 8-4).
Kenneth Lee and
Adrian Zhang played third doubles for UR, facing Winter Fagerberg and Jeremy Atwater of Hobart (8-4 winner for HC).

The Statesmen won at third singles (Shung defeated Wagner, 6-3, 6-2) and fourth singles (Wright over Georgiadis (6-1, 7-5) to open a 4-1 lead. Procaccino defeated Anderson in three sets, 7-5, 2-7, 6-2, at #1 singles to pull Rochester within 4-2. Yuminaga battled well in second singles, nearly getting Rochester within 4-3. He defeated Atwater, 6-1, in the first set. The Stateman won the second set, 6-4, and survived the third set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6). That turned out to be the wining team point.

At fifth singles, Fagerberg won, 6-0, 6-0, over Zhang and Speers finished the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Rochester's
Thomas Xue.
