GENEVA, NY – William Smith College broke open a close game by scoring six goals in a span of 10 minutes to clinch a 14-7 women's lacrosse victory over the University of Rochester on Friday evening.
Â
The same two teams will play in the Brian F. Prince Athletic Complex, specifically at Edwin Fauver Stadium on Saturday evening (7 pm start).
Â
Friday's game was played at the indoor turf surface in the Poole Family Dome on the William Smith campus. The match was originally scheduled for Fauver Stadium on Friday with the return game in Geneva on Saturday. Heavy winds forecast for Friday enabled the coaches to speak and decide to flip the sites.
Â
William Smith is 1-1 overall, 1-0 in the Liberty League. The Herons moved up two spots in this week's IWLCA Division III poll. They are number 11. Rochester, which opened its season with road wins at D'Youville and at Nazareth, is 2-1.

Â
In the second period, Voss and Panepento scored in the first three minutes to get it down to 8-6. WSC's six-goal run followed. The Yellowjackets were challenged to get good clean looks at goal. William Smith cleared 20 of 22 attempts. The Herons committed 22 turnovers, 13 in the second half.
