Emily Sharlach spun a two-hit shutout in game two as Rochester earned a split of a softball doubleheader against Ithaca College. The Yelowjackets won the nightcap, 1-0. Ithaca took the opener, 9-5.

This was the second straight DH split between the Bombers and the Yellowjackets. Rochester took game one and Ithaca captured game two on Saturday at Southside Field. With the 2-2 weekend, Rochester is now 19-6 overall, 13-2 in the Liberty League. Ithaca is 12-4 overall, 8-2 in the Liberty League.

Game One:
Ithaca rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to post a 9-5 victory. The Yellowjackets took a 2-0 lead when
Jen Carson smacked a two-run home run in the top of the second (with
Allison Beckwith aboard).

Carson hit her sixth HR of the season in the second inning of game one.
Julia Lofreddo hit a three-run shot for IC in the third.
Erin Bevec singled home pinch-runner
Alexis Klee in the fifth to tie it a 3-3.
Sammi Re singled home another pinch-runner,
Loren Castilloux, in the sixth for a 4-3 lead.

Ithaca loaded the bases and scored six runs in the process – single runs on a walk and infield single, then a grand slam by Haley Gaffney. Rochester's final run was a solo home run by
Toni Anne Hahn in the seventh.

Hannah Leahy took the loss (7-3). In 5.1 innings, she gave up seven hits, five walks, and hit two batters. She allowed eight runs, all earned.
Abbie Biggs relieved in the sixth (0.2 IP). Biggs gave up two hits and one run with a walk and a strikeout. The win went to Riley Piromalli (7-1) who pitched the last three innings in relief of Beth Fleming. She yielded six hits, three earned runs, and fanned two. Fleming, in four innings, gave up two runs, four hits, walked four, and struck out two.

Game Two:
Sharlach was tough throughout. She struck out five, walked one, and gave up two base hits; Gaffney doubled with one down in the fourth and Haley white singled in the sixth with two down. White over-ran the base and was thrown out trying to get back. That ended the inning. In the seventh, she struck out Gaffney and Loffredo, then retired Kailey Collins on an infield popup to end it.

She worked out an early scoring threat. In the first, she walked Gabby Laccona. A throwing error on Allison Dell'Orto's grounder put two aboard with no out. She retired White on a popup. Gaffney's flyout to left field moed Laccona to third. Dell 'Orto stole second to put two in scoring position, but Sharlach induced an inning-ending groundout to
Alexis Pope at third base.

Rochester scored its run in the third. With one down,
Marissa Russo singled through the left side and promptly stole second. Re singled, moving Russo to third. Re stole second and Hannah Gilbreath walked to load the bases against Fleming.
Alizah Ayon dropped a fly ball into short right field. The runners held up momentarily. When it landed, Russo was able to score but Gilbreath was forced out at second. Hahn walked, re-loading the bases, but
Hannah Keiper grounded to short to end the inning.

Fleming took the complete game loss for Ithaca. In seven innings, she allowed three hits, walked three, fanned three, and gave up the solo run. She is 5-3. The win was the sixth for Sharlach this season (6-2). On Saturday, she was out-dueled by Piromalli.
