PRINCE ATHLETIC COMPLEX- Eight players scored goals and Rochester posted a 16-8 victory over RIT in a Liberty League women's lacrosse match at Edwin Fauver Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The win gives Rochester its initial LL victory this season (3-5 overall, 1-4 LL). The same two teams will play on Saturday at RIT. That will conclude UR's 2021 season. RIT is 6-5 overall, 2-5 in the league. Rochester and RIT met in a non-league match at Fauver Stadium on April 9 with RIT scoring late to win, 13-12.

Emily Voss and
Emma Little struck three times for Rochester.
Mary Panepento was one of four Yellowjackets to score two goals. She was joined by
Grace Crochiere,
Zoe Sullivan, and
Kendra Jones.
Clare Heffernan and
Liz McGinn scored one goal apiece. Six players had assists for the Yellowjackets:
Kate Lindsey, Panepento, Voss, Little, Crochiere, and Heffernan.
Jones won 7 draws and had 5 ground balls.

RIT's Alanna Fallone scored four goals for the Tigers. Baylee West had two goals. Steph Darnell and Skylar Burlee had one apiece. Burlee and Olivia Africa had two assists each for RIT. Darnell had one setup.

This was senior day in Fauver Stadium with the five Yellowjackets honored before the game (GK
Carlie Bendavid, Panepento, Heffernan, Jones, and
Paige Smith). Bendavid had six saves in 60 minutes. RIT's Paulina Goodermote saved 12 shots. UR outshot RIT, 37-20.

Rochester unleashed 23 shots in the first 30 minutes and scored eight goals. Heffernan, Sullivan, and Little scored in the first six minutes for a 3-0 lead. Fallone pulled a goal back for the guests two minutes later (3-1). Jones scored off Panepento's feed, putting back the three-goal lead and causing RIT to call for time. That goal ignited a 5-1 run to close the first period with goals from Crochiere (two), Panepento, and Little. It was 8-2 at the break.

The second half was less than 90 seconds old when Panepento scored her second goal, putting the lead at 9-2. RIT used goals from West and Fallone, both in Man-Up situations, to get within 9-4. The Yellowjackets went on another flurry – 4-0 in the next four minutes – to push the score to 13-4. Voss scored two in a minute. Little set up the second one, then scored herself, 1:46 later (12-4). McGinn's goal off the free position made it 13-4 with 18:43 on the clock.

Rochester caused 13 of RIT's 25 turnovers. Smith did it three times and Panepento had two. Jones won seven draws and collected five ground balls. Smith won three draws and had four ground balls. Panepento matched the ground ball total. Little won five draws. UR won 16 of the 26 draws and held a 26-21 advantage on ground balls. RIT was successful on 19 of 27 clears. UR cleared 20 of 22 in the match, going 11-11 in the first half.
