PRINCE ATHLETIC COMPLEX – Visiting York College of Pennsylvania withstood a heavy Rochester assault to post a 2-2 men's soccer tie in double overtime at Edwin Fauver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The tie evened the Spartans' record to 3-3- overall. Rochester is 4-0-3. It was the second straight double OT game for the Yellowjackets. They dueled SUNY Geneseo to a 1-1 result in midweek.

The Spartans did this playing the final 41:38 shorthanded plus both 10-minute overtime periods. Rochester had a 26-6 advantage in shots taken, 15-4 in shots on goal. York goalkeeper Brady Bixler made 13 saves in 110 minutes. He surrendered two Rochester goals in a span of four minutes in the first half.

Santino Lupica-Tondo made two saves and allowed two goals. One of those came in a penalty kick in the 72
nd minute. That tied the score at 2-2.

York opened the scoring with the match 30 minutes old. The Spartans swept downfield and Noah Roche crossed the ball from left wing into the middle where McClain Smith cracked it into the top right hand corner for a 1-0 lead.

Rochester equalized three minutes later.
Joe Anderson came down the left side, crossed the ball inside the crease and
Charlie Shanks redirected it inside the right post. Four minutes after that.
Tommy Nelson dropped a corner kick into the crease and
Rio Kehe headed it inside the post.

The 2-1 edge would have been better if not for Bixler's antics. In the 6
th minute,
Tejan Borchers headed a cross from left wing for the right corner. Bixler got to it. Seven minutes later, UR's
Ryan Hecker chipped a ball to the back post where
Will Eisold's header was targeted for the low right corner. Bixler got there just before the ball crossed the line.

Rochester had a free kick opportunity early in the second half.
Nate Lazzara was pulled down as he circled a defender just outside the penalty arc.
Andrew Moglianesi's free kick went over the crossbar.

York counterattacked sending a long pass to Roche down the left wing. He centered it looking for a repeat of the first half magic, but Eisold knocked it down, then cleared it. Â The Spartans equalized from the penalty spot in the 72
nd minute. Drew Ruehlicke was fouled a yard off the endline and the PK awarded. Tyler Howlett converted the shot, driving it inside the right post.

Lupica-Tondo leaped to the top left of the goal to collect a shot from Mitchell Seipt in he 79
th minute. As Rochester pushed in the closing minutes of regulation, Moglianesi tried to shoot from the right edge of the box through a tangle of legs. Bixler saw it and dove on it just before it crossed the line. In the OT period, he repelled a series of three corner kicks in the last three minutes, then tipped away a shot from
Santi Ponce Ocampo  for a cornerk ick in the final 10 seconds.
