COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – University of Rochester field hockey senior attacker
Karina Bridger was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Region III Player of the Year, as announced by the NFHCA on Wednesday.
Bridger earns NFHCA Region III Player of the Year honors after garnering NFHCA First-Team All-Region, Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Liberty League honors. Over 22 games this season, Bridger tallied four goals and 12 assists on 58 shots (31 on goal).
Playing in all but one game for the Yellowjackets, the Briarcliff, NY native led the team and conference with her 12 assists, and ranked 37th in NCAA Division III, averaging 0.55 assists per game. Bridger's 12 assists also tied for the fourth-most in a season in program history.
The senior also tallied a pair of game-winners, scoring the game-winning goal against Hartwick on Sept. 3, and an overtime, game-winner against Ithaca that helped Rochester clinch the No. 1 seed in the Liberty League conference tournament.
Bridger wraps up her stellar career with 13 goals and 16 assists on 101 shots over 53 games played, finishing in the Top 20 in program history with her 16 career assists.
Bridger's accolade marks the second-straight Yellowjacket to earn NFHCA Region III Player of the Year honors after Amanda Strenk was named Region III Player of the Year in 2021, and the fourth 'Jacket since 2016 to earn Region Player of the Year honors.
