WINSTON-SALEM, NC – First-year jumper Cole Goodman completed his strong first season with the Rochester Men's Track and Field Team on Saturday, competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in the triple jump.

Goodman, Rochester's record holder in the event, posted a leap of 14.38 meters (47'2.25'') to finish in 12th place among the 20 competitors.

During Saturday's competition, the first year fouled on his first two attempts, but then recorded his scoring mark during his third try. The distance nearly booked a spot in the finals, but it came up just five and a half inches below the cutoff.

The first-year becomes just the second Rochester triple jumper to appear in the indoor NCAA Championships, joining Boubacar Diallo who finished 10th back in 2016.

The 2021-22 indoor season was a spectacular one for Goodman, especially in the triple jump. Across eight meets in which he competed, he earned six top-3 results and three wins, all coming in the triple jump. One of the wins came during the Liberty League Championships in February, earning him All-League honors.

Rochester's track and field programs now shift focus to the outdoor season which is scheduled to begin on March 25-26 at the University of Lynchburg Jack Toms Invitational.
