University of Rochester women's basketball senior Julianna Okoniewski has capped off her terrific career in one of the best ways possible, by being named a Division III All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
 
Okoniewski was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American in 2022 and joins an exclusive list in the history of Rochester Women's Basketball. She becomes 13th player in program history to earn All-America accolades while earning the 21st overall honor. She becomes the first All-American since the 2017-18 season when Alexandra Leslie was named to the Division III 1st Team.
 
The WBCA recognizes a ten-player Division III Coaches' All-America 1st Team and an additional forty players earn All-America Honorable Mention status. Honorees are voted on by a committee composed of WBCA member coaches from a selection of finalists compiled by top vote-getters from each region across Division III.
 
This season, Okoniewski has already earned a multitude of honors for her efforts on the court. She was a 1st Team All-Region selection by D3hoops.com and 1st Team All-University Athletic Association. Additionally, she was selected to the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout All-Tournament Team and earned UAA All-Academic accolades for her performance in the classroom.

Okoniewski also earned a spot on the WBCA's 2022 Women's Collegiate All-Star Team, a 20-player roster of seniors who excelled on the court this season.
 
The senior was steady all season in the post for Rochester, averaging a career-best 13.0 points per game while shooting 44.9% (135-301) from the field. She grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game and was a stalwart defensively, accumulating 45 blocks (1.8 bpg) and 44 steals (1.8 spg). Okoniewski averaged nearly 24 minutes per contest and shot 72.4% from the free throw line (55-76). She ended up leading the team in field goals made, free throws made, rebounds, blocks and steals and was second in scoring.
 
During 2021-22, Okoniewski scored in double-figures in 19 of 25 games for the Yellowjackets and recorded five double-doubles, including three straight to end the season. She had a season-high 20 points on two occasions, coming against Brandeis on January 30 and in the season-finale at Emory on February 26.
 
She helped Rochester to accumulate a 16-9 overall record. The Yellowjackets posted several quality wins during the campaign, including a UR Chuck Resler Tournament title and against #7 NYU on January 28, the Violets lone regular season loss this year. Rochester added wins against other conference champions New Paltz, Southern Virginia and Ithaca.
 
For her career, she finished just shy of 1,000 points, ending with 965 across 77 games played, a 12.5 point per game scoring average. She added 580 career rebounds (7.5 rpg) and had over 100 steals and 125 blocks. Okoniewski ends third in school history with 1.8 blocks per game and fourth in total blocks (140), while ranking 9th in scoring average and tenth in defensive rebounds per game (4.9).
