ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Visiting Hobart College snapped Rochester's four-match winning streak with a 6-3 men's tennis victory over the Yellowjackets at the Lyman Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.

Hobart improved to 9-5 overall. The Statesmen are ranked #16 in the current regional poll. Rochester is 6-5 overall with a match at Niagara University looming this Friday and a match at St. Lawrence University on Sunday. After that, the Yellowjackets will compete in the 2022 University Athletic Association championships.

Krish Vennam was a double winner for Rochester. He paired with
Pasquale Procaccino to win, 8-5, at #2 doubles over Troy Steiner and Harry Lyu. Vennam secured Rochester's final team point as well, defeating Lyu in three sets at #3 singles (6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-8).

The other Rochester victory was snared by Kyle Yuminaga in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) at #4 singles. Four of the six singles matches involved tiebreakers and three of those lasted three sets before a decision was reached.

At first singles, Procaccino lost in three to Winter Fagerberg of Hobart (ranked #25 regionally this week) – 6-4, 4-6, 7-10. At third singles, Vennam opened with the 6-3 win but Lyu forced a third set, winning a tiebreaker in the second set. Vennam bounced back in set three to grab the point: 6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-8.

Adrian Zhang lost to Hyat Oyer at #5 singles, 6-0, 4-6, 6-7. Runija Fang lost to Sean Pesin of Hoart, 6-7 (2), 2-6 at #2 singles.
Kei Ogawa lost, 6-1, 6-1 at #6 singles to Thomas Shung.

Pesin was the only double winner for Hobart. He and Jett Wright won, 8-1, at #1 doubles against Fang and Yuminaga.
