5/15/2022 9:11:00 PM

PITTSFORD, NY – A handful of men's athletes from the Rochester track and field team were in action on Sunday, competing at the Nazareth ROC City Final Qualifier.

It was the last regular season meet of the season, as only the All-Atlantic Region Championships and NCAA Division III Championships remain on the schedule for the Yellowjackets.

The Yellowjackets had five individuals compete, with each one earning at least one top-ten finish in Saturday's action. UR also added four All-Atlantic Region qualifying performances.

Sophomore Mitch Lienert had a strong day in the sprint events. He was third in the 200 meters in 22.33 seconds and ended fourth in the 100 meters, clocking in with a time of 10.90 seconds. Both were regional qualifiers and the 100 meter time ranks as the fourth quickest in school history.

Long jumper Kyle Lane had the top placement on the day for Rochester, ending in second in his event. He jumped 6.71 meters and was also a regional qualifier.

The fourth regional performance was done by Ryan Swavely in hammer throw. His mark of 49.04 meters was better than the AARTFC standard and earned him a seventh place result.

Teammate James O'Neill was ninth, tossing the hammer 47.27 meters. O'Neill also competed in the discus and placed 11th with a mark of 40.72 meters.

Rounding out the competition on the day was Manny Eribo who finished in ninth place in the 200 meters, crossing the finish in 23.18 seconds.

Up next for the Yellowjackets is the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Championships, taking place this Wednesday and Thursday at Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA.
