Women's Outdoor Track & Field Wins Liberty League Championship

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – With 13 Atlantic Region qualifying performances, three meet records, and one conference record, the women's outdoor track & field team rolled to the 2022 Liberty League team championship at Vassar College on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Yellowjackets totaled 230 points to finish first among eight competing schools. Ithaca was second with 216 points. RPI was third (132), and St. Lawrence was fourth (98).
 
Susan Bansbach was named the Performer of the Meet. She won two individual events, ran on a winning relay, and was part of the three meet records. She won the 800 in 2:12.84, a meet record and an Atlantic qualifier. Her winning time of :24.81 in the 200 was a meet record, a Liberty League record, and an Atlantic qualifier. She ran the second leg of the 4x100 relay, timed in :48.27. That was a meet record and an Atlantic qualifier. The relay had Kate Isaac in the first spot, followed by Bansbach, Ashley Heffernan, and Madeline O'Connell.

In the 200, O'Connell was second in an Atlantic time of :24.97. Isaac was fifth (:25.79, another AR mark), and Kristin Hardy was eighth (:26.08). O'Connell was second in the 400 (:56.44, AR) with Hardy third (:59.44, AR), and Alexis Aboagyye fifth (1:01.14). Heffernan won the 100 meters in :12.26  (AR) with Bansbach second (:12.40, AR), and Isaac sixth (:12.70).
 
Lisa Pink was Rochester's top finisher in the 1,500 (4:46.64, AR). She was pursued by Kelley Foley in eighth place (4:59.39). Pink was fifth in the 800 (2:19:30, AR). Eileen Bequette produced a second place finish and a fourth place finish in the hurdle races. She was second in the 400 intermediates (1:04.85 – AR) and fourth behind Heffernan in the 100 hurdles (:15.45 AR).  Rachel Dennis ran an 18:04.00 in the 5,000 meters which booked a spot at the Atlantic Region meet.
 
The 4x400 meter relay won in a time of 4:02.25 (Alexis Aboagye, Bequette, Megan Bell, and Hardy). Iva Savic finished third in the heptathlon with 3,289 points. On Saturday, she finished second in the long jump, third in the javelin throw, and fifth in the 800.
 
Cora Rose was a top-eight finisher in two field events. She was third in both the triple jump (10.69 m.) and the discus throw (37.14 m.). Alyssa Hoogs won the triple jump in 11.27 m. Gillian Reeder was fourth in the discus throw (36.69 m.). Bequette cleared 1.58 m. in the high jump to finish second. Desiree Garrick was third in the shot put (11:45 m.).
