University of Rochester women's track & field juniors Nora Chen and Eva Ciuffetelli were selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America Team, as announced by the CSC on Wednesday.

Chen received CSC Academic All-America First-Team honors, while Ciuffetelli was selected to the Academic All-America Third Team. The pair are the 19th and 20th Academic All-Americans in program history and continue a stretch of 10-straight years in which a URochester women's track & field athlete has received Academic All-America honors.

Rochester was also one of just eight schools to put multiple student-athletes on the NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-Academic squads.

I am absolutely thrilled that Nora and Eva are being recognized as Academic All-Americans," Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Sam Albert said. "They have established themselves as two of the top NCAA Division III athletes in the nation in their respective events, while also excelling in the classroom and taking full advantage of the research opportunities available at the University of Rochester. Both women are true scholar-athletes, and we are so proud of everything they've achieved academically and on the track!"

A nine-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America, Chen added three All-America honors to her ledger this season, earning First-Team honors indoors in the 400 meters and outdoors in the 400-meter hurdles, and Second-Team accolades indoors in the 60-meter hurdles. The junior was named the USTFCCCA Niagara Region Outdoor Women's Track Athlete of the Year and secured 11 USTFCCCA All-Region honors, as well as seven All-Liberty League honors, five of which were First-Team accolades at the indoor and outdoor conference championships.

This season, Chen also broke the school records in both the 60-meter and 400-meter hurdles, tallied 25 first-place finishes and was a four-time Liberty League Performer of the Week. Chen was also awarded the Sylvia Fabricant Award at the Rochester Athletics' Banquet and was named a Provost Circle Scholar.

Off the track, Chen, a double major in psychology and brain & cognitive sciences, is a two-time Liberty League and USTFCCCA All-Academic selection and a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree. On campus, the Wallingford, PA, native is a member of Psi Chi, has received the Schwartz Discover Grant, has been inducted into the Keidean Senior Honors Society, and conducts research in the Cognitive Development Lab. Additionally, Chen attended a week-long intensive sports psychology program at Rutgers this summer.

Ciuffetelli was an NCAA qualifier both indoors and outdoors this season, finishing eighth in the 800 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships to earn USTFCCCA First-Team All-America accolades, one of three career All-America honors for the junior. Ciuffetelli also qualified outdoors in the 4x400-meter relay and was a four-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree and a five-time All-Liberty League selection this season. The West Grove, PA native also ran to 23 top-three results and was a one-time Liberty League Performer of the Week this season.

The chemical engineering major is a two-time Liberty League and USTFCCCA All-Academic selection and a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team member. A member of Tau Beta Pi, Ciuffetelli is the President and a Project Leader for Sustainability through Engineering, a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, a Goldwater Scholar, a Sustainability Scholar and a Mickey Leland Energy Fellow.

With Sustainability through Engineering, Ciuffetelli volunteered at "Family Science Day" to bring STEM projects to kids in the Rochester community, while the junior also volunteers as the Deputy Secretary of Sustainability, working to increase recycling availability at the campus mail center.
