BOSTON – The University of Rochester women's rowing varsity 8 boat earned a 25th place finish in the collegiate eights race at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday afternoon.
The Head of the Charles, along the Charles River in Boston, is one of the world's largest rowing competitions, featuring three days of racing and over 11,000 rowers.
This year's entry for the Yellowjackets posted at time of 19:32.182 along the course, ranking 25th among the 35 entries in the predominantly Division III field. UR's finish did pick up key victories over Liberty League opponents William Smith (29th) and RPI (35th). A third conference boat, Ithaca, ended the race in 11th place.
During the competition, Tufts University claimed the medalist honors, finishing with a time of 18:03.969.
Sunday racing was the seventh all-time appearance for Rochester at the Head of the Charles, with UR competing in the collegiate eights race for the sixth time. The Yellowjackets appearance last year (18th place) was the first by a team from the River Campus since the 2014-15 season.
