SARATOGA SPRING, NY – The University of Rochester rowing team wrapped up its fall racing schedule by competing at the Head of the Fish Regatta on Saturday, posting multiple top results throughout the day along Fish Creek.
UR's most successful boat was the 'A' doubles entry of junior
Elizabeth Martin and senior
Madeleine LaChance that kicked off UR's racing during the morning session. The duo ranked second of 19 teams in the event, crossing the finish in 14:42.12. Rochester also had a 'B' entry in the event, with
Andrea Denman and
Sarah Kelley ranking 14th with a time of 17:24.23.
In the other morning action, the Yellowjackets entered a boat in the pairs event, with
Lindsey Brayer and
Anushka Aritharan placing sixth of eight teams with their time of 16:22.13.
To begin the afternoon racing, Rochester's Varsity 8 boat finished 13th of 19 schools, crossing the finish line with a time of 13:00.86. UR ranked as the top finishing Liberty League team, beating five other entries from the conference, including host Skidmore who ended one spot behind on the leaderboard.
In the next race, the 2V/3V event, Rochester's 2nd Varsity 8 placed 12th in 13:59.33, while the 3rd Varsity 8 boat was 21st in 15:24.13. Overall, 23 boats were entered in that competition.
Wrapping up the days racing was UR's Varsity 4 boat, which ended 31st with its time of 17:21.75.\
Rochester is now off for the rest of the fall semester and will return to the water in March during the teams spring break trip to South Carolina.
