The University of Rochester women's rowing team got its first major competition of the fall season under its belt on Saturday, bringing home a pair of silver medals at the annual Head of the Genesee Regatta along the Genesee River in Rochester.
 
Rochester's runner-up results came in the 1st Varsity 8+ competition and the 4+ races. Overall, UR competed with nine entries on the day, spanning five different collegiate events.
 
In the 1V, the Yellowjackets finished the course in a time of 19:06.46, picking up wins over conference foes RIT, St. Lawrence and St. John Fisher. Division I Binghamton also competed, ending sixth, with Liberty League rival William Smith taking the event title with an 18:46.14 time.
 
UR's other runner-up finish came in the 10-entry coxed quad event. The Rochester finishing time was 21:00.24, falling only to event champion William Smith once again. The Yellowjackets had three entries in that race, with the 2V4 finishing in sixth (21:44.80) and the 3V4 placing eighth (23:05.92).
 
Rochester also had a pair of boats compete in the open fours, with the top boat placing fifth in 22:44.69, while the 'B' entry ended seventh with its time of 24:08.63.
 
Wrapping up competition on the day were UR's two boats in the open doubles and the 2V8 and 3V8 also taking to the water. The doubles boats finished in seventh at 23:29.95 (B entry) and ninth at 25:04.77 (A entry). In the eights, UR's 2V was third in 20:37.03 and the 3V competed in the open race, crossing the finish with a time of 20:46.24.
