The University of Rochester men's tennis team combined to drop just seven games across nine wins in a 9-0 shutout victory over Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon at the Goergen Athletic Center.

Rochester (1-0) opens its dual season with its 41st all-time victory against the Golden Flyers (2-1).

Doubles was a smashing success for the Yellowjackets as UR posted two 8-0 wins and a third match went Rochester's way by an 8-1 score.

The third doubles team of
Kenneth Lee and
Kei Ogawa opened the scoring with a shutout over Isiah McMurray and Noah Britton.
Kai Yuminaga and
Rahul Ravi followed suit with an 8-0 win at first doubles against Dominic Vito and Chris Benedict. The #2 doubles team of
Krish Vennam and
Kavin Shukla made it 3-0 Rochester when they won 8-1 against Pierre Ntonga and Max Funiciello.

Turning to singles, the Yellowjackets quickly clinched the match after Vennam and
Surya Rajamani earned straight set wins. Vennam blanked McMurray 6-0, 6-0 at #2, while Rajamani earned the clinching point with his 6-1, 6-0 win over Ntonga.

Yuminaga played at the top spot and did not drop a game in his match against Vito, and
Alex Kulvivat earned his first collegiate dual match win at #3, topping Funiciello 6-3, 6-1.

Rounding out the scoring was Lee, who won 6-0, 6-0 over Benedict at #5 and
John Hui who earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Britton at the six spot in the lineup.

Rochester is back in action next weekend playing two more New York opponents in Vassar and 22nd-ranked RPI. UR plays Vassar on Friday and against RPI on Saturday. Â
