BABSON PARK, MA – University of Rochester men's tennis wrapped up a three-match week and two-game road trip in Massachusetts, falling to the No. 33-ranked Babson College Beavers, 9-0 on Sunday at the Babson Tennis Courts.
With the win, the No. 33-ranked Beavers move to 7-1 on the season, picking up their fourth-straight win, while Rochester falls to 4-5 on the year.
Babson got off to a hot start in doubles action, winning all three matches to take an early 3-0 lead. Luis Utrilla and Brady Anderson topped
Kai Yuminaga and
Rahul Ravi, 8-4, and Brooks Green and Wesley Zhang defeated
Ahaan Malhotra, 8-3, before Maxwell Conlin and Jack MacDonald beat
Kei Ogawa and
Kenneth Lee, 8-2, to take all three doubles matches of Babson.
Then in singles action, the Beavers kept rolling, winning all six to finish off the victory. At No. 1-singles,
Krish Vennam battled but fell to Green, 6-2, 6-4, while at No. 2-singles, Anderson downed Yuminaga, 6-3, 6-3.
The Beavers earned their first singles win at No. 3-singles, with Utrilla topping Ravi, 6-1, 6-1, before Anderson clinched the victory for Babson at the one-spot.
After Anderson and Yuminaga finished up, Babson wrapped up the match with three more wins at No. 4, where Conlin topped Ogawa: 6-4, 6-3; No. 5-singles, with Zhang defeating Malhotra: 6-2, 6-1. Before MacDonald topped
Kenneth Lee at No. 6-singles: 6-3, 6-0, to finish off the match for Babson.
The Yellowjackets will next hit the road for three more matches, beginning with a contest against the New York University Violets in New York, NY on Saturday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m.
