ORLANDO, FL –
Josephine Libby picked up a pair of wins in singles and doubles action, but the University of Rochester women's tennis fell to Haverford College, 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in the final match of their spring break trip.
Libby, paired with
Sanjana Karnam, helped UR take a point in doubles action, 8-5, but the Fords took the other two doubles matches to open an early 2-1 advantage.
Haverford's Mimi Lavin and Summer Williams downed UR's
Jaclyn Dron and
Jasmin Toor, 8-5, to open up doubles play, before Erika Phanord and Abhishree Menon topped
Neha Dania and
Stephanie Kim, 8-3, to break the 1-1 tie and give the Fords a 2-1 lead.
Libby started the 'Jackets off in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory to even the match at 2-all, but the Fords took the next three points to pull ahead and solidify their victory.
Lavin topped Karnam in the 2-spot, 6-4, 6-0, while Annie Barrett topped Dron at six singles, 6-4, 6-1, to give Haverford a 4-2 lead.
Rachael Fitzgerald then topped Toor, 7-5, 6-3, before Dania picked up a tiebreak win for UR at four singles, topping Summer Williams, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5).
Up 5-3, Kim and Sriya Krishnan finished off the match at the five-spot for Rochester and Haverford, with Krishnan taking the match, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
With the loss, Rochester drops to 2-5 on the year, while Haverford moves to 1-2.
The Yellowjackets next return home to the Goergen Athletic Center, hosting Ithaca College on Thursday, March 23 at 4:00 p.m.
