Women’s Tennis Bested by #28 NYU

Bronx, NY – University of Rochester women's tennis opened its two-game road trip on Saturday at the Stadium Tennis Center, falling to the 28th-ranked New York University Violets, 9-0.
 
The Violets jumped ahead early, taking all three matches in doubles action. Karina Jensrud and Molly Heber downed Sanaja Karnam and Neha Dania, 8-1, at No. 2-doubles, while Jaclyn Dron and Stephanie Kim fell to Anastasiia Balyk and Jimena Menendez at No. 3-doubles, 8-1.
 
NYU then took the third doubles match at the one spot, with Dakota Fordman and Ida Krause, the sixth-ranked doubles pair in the Northeast region, defeating Rola Abouzeina and Josephine Libby, 8-4.
 
Then in singles action, the Menendez topped Abouzeina at the five-spot: 6-1, 6-0; before Jensrud beat Karnam: 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2-singles to clinch the victory for the Violets.
 
At No. 3-singles, NYU's Aditi Narayan topped Jasmin Toor, 6-3, 6-1; before Krause defeated Libby in a battle of regionally-ranked foes. Krause took the first set, 6-4, and then edged Libby in the second-set tiebreak, 7-3, to take the second set, 7-6, and No. 1-singles, 2-0.
 
NYU then wrapped up the 9-0 win with wins at five and six singles, with Heber defeating Dania at the five-spot, 6-3, 6-0; and Balyk topping Kim at six singles, 6-2, 6-2.
 
With the win, NYU remains undefeated at 7-0 on the year, while Rochester falls to 3-8.
 
Rochester next heads to Oneonta, NY to wrap up the weekend against the Red Dragons on Sunday, April 2 at noon.
