ONEONTA, NY – Four players were double winners for the University of Rochester women's tennis team as the Yellowjackets closed out a two-match weekend with an 8-1 win over SUNY Oneonta on Sunday afternoon at the Heissan Tennis Courts.
Rochester improves to 4-8 on the season with the victory, while Oneonta drops to 8-12.
UR's double-winners were
Josephine Libby,
Sanjana Karnam,
Jasmin Toor and
Jaclyn Dron. Also, picking up a singles win was
Stephanie Kim, while
Rola Abouzeina and
Neha Dania were winners in doubles play for the Yellowjackets.
Rochester swept through doubles, winning each match by at least an 8-3 score. Dron and Toor won at third doubles 8-3 for the opening point. The number two team of Dania and Karnam won 8-2, while Libby and Abouzeina posted an 8-1 victory at the top spot in the doubles order.
In singles, Libby didn't lose a game at #1, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Julia Holtermann, putting Rochester up 4-0.
Karnam earned the clinching point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number two, ending just ahead of Toor's 6-3, 6-4 win at third singles.
Kim blanked her opponent at #5 6-0, 6-0and Dron won 6-0-, 6-1 at the sixth spot in the order.
Oneonta's lone point came at fourth singles when Maxie Karen won 6-3, 7-6 (7) over Dania.
UR's next match is set for April 6 at William Smith College.
