University of Rochester softball seniors Hannah Keiper, Alexis Klee and Emily Sharlach earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Softball honors, as announced by CSC on Tuesday.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Keiper earns her second-consecutive Academic All-District honor after being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team in 2022. A three-time All-Liberty League selection and the 2021 Liberty League co-Player of the Year, Keiper was named First-Team All-Liberty League this season after batting .311/.436/.541 with 10 doubles, six home runs, 26 walks, 19 runs scored and 31 RBI, helping the 'Jackets to their third-straight conference title.

A three-time Liberty League Academic selection, Keiper has twice been named the Most Outstanding Performer at the Liberty League Tournament in 2021 and 2022, as well as the NFCA All-Northeast Regional Team in 2021.

Off the diamond, Keiper recently graduated with a double major in business marketing and digital media studies, and plans on attending the Simon School of Business this fall. A 2022 Garnish Scholar-Athlete, Keiper was named the co-winner of UR's 2023 Slyvia Fabricant Award. Keiper has also worked for both the Rochester Athletic Communications office and the softball team as a social media coordinator and graphic designer, and previously interned with USA Softball in their communications and marketing department.

Klee also notches her second CSC Academic All-District selection after taking home First-Team Academic All-District honors in 2021. A member of the 2021 NCAA All-Northeast Regional Team, Klee has been a steady contributor all four years for the Yellowjackets, starting every game in centerfield for UR this season.

Off the field, Klee is a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection and earned the Dean's List all six semesters the senior was eligible. A microbiology major with a cultural anthropology minor, Klee has done extensive research at the Dickerson Lab at URMC, earning the Discover Grant in the summer of 2021 to stay in Rochester and do full-time research.

Klee has also done research in the Dunman Lab at URMC and has TAed for multiple biology classes, including BIO 111, recently serving as the Head TA for a class of 400 students and managing 15 other TAs. This summer, Klee will be taking a gap year to join the Wu Lab as a lab technician, helping with musculoskeletal research, and plans on attending medical school the following year.

The 2021 Liberty League Rookie of the Year, Sharlach is a two-time All-Liberty League selection, having most recently garnered second-team honors in 2022. This season, Sharlach went 7-2 with a 1.91 ERA and 0.86 WHIP, striking out 29 batters and allowing just 13 earned runs over 47.2 innings pitched.

Sharlach will graduate ranked in the top 10 in program history in numerous career and single-season categories, including first in saves and fourth in opponent batting average and shutouts. The senior was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Erie, PA in 2021, and is also a three-time Liberty League Pitcher of the Week selection.

Off the field, Sharlach, a health policy and political science double major, is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection, and has interned with Common Ground Health Whole Child as a Health and Policy intern, the Monroe Country Democratic Committee, the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York and I'RAISE Boys and Girls as a case intake and policy intern.

Following graduation, Sharlach will be attending Boston University to pursue a master's degree in public health with concentrations in maternal and child health & health policy and law.
