LOUISVILLE, KY – University of Rochester softball first-year Molly Broccolo and sophomores Jenna Gorecki, Ally Kim and Bailey Nicholoff earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region III Honors, as announced by the NFCA on Friday.
 
Broccolo, Gorecki and Kim all earned NFCA All-Region III First-Team honors, while Nicholoff was named to the All-Region III Third Team. The Yellowjackets were one of just 12 schools with four players represented on the DIII All-Region Teams, with only 11 schools having more.

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region. All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 31 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Marshall, TX.
 
A First-Team All-Liberty League selection and the 2023 Liberty League Tournament's Most Outstanding Performer, Broccolo finished the 2023 campaign with a 19-13 record, 1.00 ERA and 0.97 WHIP, pitching 17 complete games in 27 appearances and 23 starts. The first-year held opponents to just a .206 batting average and posted a 1.000 fielding percentage, striking out 87 while walking just 27 and allowing only 22 earned runs.
 
Broccolo was also named to the Annville Region All-Tournament Team following her performance in the circle against both 24th-ranked Eastern Connecticut State and Lebanon Valley and ranks in the Top 10 in the country in earned run average and in the top 25 in both shutouts and victories. Broccolo's 1.00 ERA is also the lowest in a single season in program history, while the Webster, NY native's 19 wins are the third-most in a season in program history and the first-year's seven shutouts are tied for third.
 
Gorecki also earns First-Team All-Region III Honors as a designated player after taking home First-Team All-Liberty League honors earlier this season. Over 47 games played and 46 starts, Gorecki hit .366/.427/.545 with 18 doubles, a triple, two home runs, three stolen bases, 14 walks, 21 runs scored and 42 RBI.
 
The sophomore turned in a breakout campaign in 2023, ranking in the top 25 in NCAA Division III in doubles, as well as the top 100 in RBI. Gorecki's 18 doubles are the second-most in a single season in program history, while the Pittsburgh, PA tied the single-game program record with three doubles at Medaille on April 8, 2023.
 
A 2023 First-Team All-Liberty League honoree, Kim earns all-region honors for the second-consecutive year after being named to the All-Region III Second Team last season. The sophomore was once again UR's leadoff hitter across all 47 games, batting .391/.469/.577 with 12 doubles, seven triples, a home run, 60 runs scored, 18 walks and 48 stolen bases.
 
Kim set new program single-season records with 60 runs scored, 48 stolen bases and seven triples, and is also UR's all-time leader in both steals (94) and triples (9). Kim's 48 steals and 60 runs scored also rank in the top five in Division III, and following the Annville Regional was named to the all-tournament team.
 
Nicholoff appeared in every game, making 46 starts for the Yellowjackets this season, en route to Second-Team All-Liberty League and Third-Team All-Region III Honors. The sophomore made 46 starts in right and behind home plate, batting .325/.392/.523 with 16 doubles, a triple, four home runs, 42 runs scored and 33 RBI. Nicholoff was also the 'Jackets' third-leading base stealer with 23 steals, ranking second in the conference in steals during the regular season.
 
Rochester wrapped up the 2023 season with a 38-9 record, setting a new program record with both their 38 total wins and 32 regular-season wins on their way to their third-straight Liberty League title and NCAA Tournament appearance.
