A total of three individuals from the University of Rochester were honored as Liberty League Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for their athletic accomplishments over the last week.

Graduate running back Daniel Papantonis and junior linebacker Luke Herter were named Liberty League offensive and defensive performers of the week while junior goalie Kara Houston was named defensive performer of the week in field hockey.

Papantonis rushed for a season-high 194 yards on 24 carries in Rochester's 21-0 victory over St. Lawrence on Saturday. The graduate student also notched a 17-yard touchdown, averaged over 8.0 yards per carry and had a long rush of 63 yards to power the Yellowjackets offense.

Herter led the Yellowjackets defense in posting its second shutout of the 2024 season, tallying a team-high 12 tackles, 0.5 TFL while also recording an interception in UR's 21-0 victory against St. Lawrence on Saturday.

Herter's interception was a pick-six, returning it 37 yards for a touchdown to start the scoring in the second half of the contest. Herter's 12 tackles were a new career-high and the interception return TD was the second by a UR player this season.

Houston posted a pair of wins in goal as the Yellowjackets defeated two Liberty League opponents over the weekend. On Friday in a 3-0 shutout of Rensselaer, the junior keeper made two saves and became the Rochester all-time shutout leader in the process. Two days later in an overtime 2-1 win at Vassar, Houston faced 14 total shots (7 on goal) and made five saves while allowing just one goal.
