PITTSFORD, NY – The University of Rochester women's track and field team ended in sixth place at the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at Nazareth University's Golisano Training Center.
On day two of the meet, the Yellowjackets had nine individuals take to the competition, earning three scoring performances.
Overall, Rochester finished sixth among 38 teams that scored a point in the meet, scoring 33 points.
Junior
Megan Bell earned a runner-up finish in the 800 meters posting the top UR finish on Saturday. She clocked in with a time of 2:13.53, improving her time on the NCAA Division III performance list, ranking inside the top-10 heading into the NCAA Division III Championships next week.
First-year
Nora Chen was the lone Yellowjacket to compete in two events on the day. Chen finished fourth in the 400 meters, and won her heat in 58.44 seconds.
Later on, Chen was a part of UR's 4x200 meter relay that finished 12th among 26 teams. Joining Chen was
Maya Hatch,
Raquella Casserino and
Tina Kyriacou, with the group finishing in 1:48.32, a UR season-best performance.
UR's final top-8 finisher was
Deziree Garrick in the weight throw. The junior finished eight and added a point to UR's team score with a 15.89 meter mark. Teammate
Liv Ilasz wrapped up the competition in 28th after a throw of 12.52 meters.
During the triple jump, senior
Alyssa Hoogs finished in tenth, jumping 11.18 meters. Junior
Ellie Ponko was UR's final competitor on the day, crossing the finish in the 3000 meters in 10:47.83, finishing in 13th place.
Up next, qualifying individuals from the Yellowjackets will compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships next weekend in Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 8-9.
