SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The University of Rochester rowing team geared up for the upcoming Liberty League Championships by competing in four events at the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships on Saturday along Fish Creek.
 
UR competed in the varsity eight (V8), second varsity eight (2V) and third varsity eight (3V) events along with seeing some novice rowers get on the water in a novice four (N4) boat in the afternoon session.
 
To kick off the morning racing, Rochester's V8 was fourth of five in heat two of the varsity eight action with a time of 8:06.97. The group qualified for the petit final of the event in the afternoon and wound up with an 8:13.86 time to place fourth of sixth in that race, ending in tenth place overall.
 
In 2V action, Rochester's boat was sixth of seven in heat one of the morning races, crossing the finish in a time of 8:13.12. Later on, the group finished third of six in the petit final with a time just about two seconds slower than in the morning, holding firm at their seed, placing tenth among 13 entires.
 
Also, rowing in the morning was UR's third varsity boat which finished seventh in its race in 9:30.34.
 
During afternoon action, the Yellowjackets novice four boat crossed the finish in a time of 10:40.14, ending fifth of eight in its event.
