VERONA, NY – The University of Rochester men's golf team sits just three strokes back of first place following the second round of action at the 2024 Liberty League Men's Golf Championship at the Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort.
After shooting a 296, eight-over par, on Friday, the 'Jackets shot nine shots better on Saturday, finishing the day at 287, one-under, and seven-over for the entire tournament. Through 36 holes, UR sits in third place, three strokes behind both St. Lawrence and Skidmore, both of whom are tied for first.
The Thoroughbreds and Saints both sit at +4, 580, for the 36 holes, with St. Lawrence having shot a conference-best two-under par in the second round.

Gary Pan and
Shibo Wang led the Yellowjackets on the second day of competition, shooting two-under on the par 72 course. Wang hit five birdies, including four on the back nine to help offset a pair of bogeys, and now sits tied for fourth overall, even for the tournament.
Pan knocked in four birdies as well as an eagle on the par-five fifth hole, shooting two-under on day two to move into seventh individually with a two-day score of 146, two-over par.
Tom Liu is also tied for fourth individual at an even par for the tournament through two rounds, having shot one-under on Saturday. Liu birdied the par-five fifth hole on the front nine, before knocking in three more birdies on the back nine to finish the day one-under and even for the tournament.
Rounding out Rochester's five competitors,
Brendan Frain shot four-over-par in the second round, opening his round with a birdie on the first hole, a par four, and sits tied for 11th overall at five over for the championship.
Kerry Wang shot a 76, four-over par on day two, and sits tied for 23rd overall at nine-overall through two days of competition. Wang tallied a birdie on the back nine, sinking the par-four 16th hole in three.
Individually, Tate Esler remains in first place at four-under after two days of competition, while a pair of Saints, Sam Lyman (-3) and Jimmy King (-2) round out the top three individuals, with both
Shibo Wang and Liu close on their heels.
The Yellowjackets will hit the course beginning at 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 for the final day of competition at the 2024 Liberty League Championships, looking to make their final push to the top of the standings.
