WORCESTER, MA – The University of Rochester rowing team sent three boats to compete at the National Invitational Rowing Championships on Sunday, wrapping up the 2023-24 season on the water.
Rochester competed in the First Varsity Eight event, Second Varsity Eight event and Third Varsity Eight event along Lake Quinsigamond in Massachusetts. Some of the top Division III schools were in attendance at the competition, including the top-3 teams in the latest Division III coaches poll.
The Yellowjacket varsity eight boat placed 16th of 19 teams in its competition, posting the best time among Rochester's three entries on the day. In the morning heats, UR was sixth in its race, posting a time of 7:40.788. During the afternoon third final, Rochester finished fourth of seven and greatly improved its time, rowing to a 7:26.454 time.
In the second varsity eight competition, the Yellowjackets concluded the day with a second place result in the third final during the afternoon, ending 14th of 18 entries overall. UR's morning time was 7:57.292, with the afternoon clock stopping at 7:55.102.
Rochester's third varsity eight boat ended the day 12th overall in its competition, rowing times of 8:22.649 in the morning and 8:25.916 during the afternoon finals racing.
