Sakakeeny, Berry Lead Men’s XC at Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, OH – Liam Sakakeeny and Joe Berry each snagged a top-25 result, as the University of Rochester men's cross country team finished eighth at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday at the Oberlin College North Fields Cross Country Course.
 
Rochester took eighth in the 26-team field with 260 points, while Case Western Reserve took home the top spot with 84 points. RIT, with 95 points, and Kenyon, with 109 points, rounded out the top-three team finishers in the 227-runner varsity race.
 
Sakakeeny was the Yellowjackets' top finisher, coming in 20th place with a time of 26:03.80, while Berry finished three spots behind him in 23rd place with a time of 26:08.10.
 
Austin Skeete was Rochester's next-highest finisher in 69th place, clocking in with a time of 26:59.80, while William Eskenas took home a 77th-place result with a 27:05.20 time.
 
Zach Terrano rounded out the Yellowjackets' top-five runners with an 81st-place result and 27:10.60 time, while Sam Cohen (27:13.20) and Jesse Rinzel (27:28.60) were URochester's displacers, coming in 84th and 98th, respectively.
 
Rochester then added another top-100 finisher in Gus Smith, who placed 99th with a time of 27:28.70, while the Yellowjackets added two top-20 results in the open race.
 
Nolan Goldthwaite was the 'Jackets' top runner in the open race, placing 11th with a time of 27:31.20, while Owen Bernstein crossed the finish line in 27:49.80, good for 20th overall in the 180 open-race runner field.
 
URochester is back in action next Saturday, Nov. 1, when they head to Edwardsville, IL, for the 2025 University Athletic Association Cross Country Championships, hosted by WashU.
