Yellowjackets Net Third-Place Finish at Niagara Regional

ROCHESTER, NY – The University of Rochester men's cross country team earned its best regional finish since 2021, finishing third with a trio of top-15 individual finishes on Saturday morning at the NCAA Division III Niagara Cross Country Regional, hosted by RIT at Genesee Valley Park.
 
James Catania was Rochester's top finisher, placing 12th with a time of 25:24.5. Both Liam Sakakeeny and Joe Berry joined Catania in the top 15, crossing the finish line in 14th and 15th place, respectively.
 
Sakakeeny came in with a time of 25:31.5, just ahead of Berry, who clocked in at 25:32.9.
 
Zach Terrano then made it four 'Jackets inside the top 35, placing 28th with a time of 26:06.2.
 
Nolan Goldthwaite rounded out Rochester's top-five runners with a 41st-place finish and 26:27.3 time, while Austin Skeete (42nd, 26:33.5) and William Eskenas (87th, 27:26.5) were the Yellowjackets' displacers in the 188-runner field.
 
As a team, the 'Jackets combined to 110 points to finish third, their best NCAA Regional finish since URochester took second in 2021. SUNY Geneseo took home the regional title with 29 points, with NYU in second place with 47 points.
 
Individually, the Knights had all three of the top finishers, with Ryan Hagan leading the way with a time of 24:11.7.
 
The Yellowjackets will now await any potential at-large bids to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, to be announced on Sunday, Nov. 16. The Championships will take place on Nov. 22 at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, SC.
