Yellowjackets Drop Sunday Matinee at Colgate

HAMILTON, NY – University of Rochester women's tennis fell in its weekend finale to the Colgate University Raiders, 7-0, on Sunday morning inside the Sanford Field House.
 
The Raiders took all three doubles matches to secure the first point of the match, kicking things off with a win at No. 2 doubles, where Carina Cristobal and Eliza Podlas topped Sanjana Karnam and Maya Bravo, 6-1.
 
At No. 1 doubles, Sophia Montero and Amelia Galin edged Josephine Libby and Katie Yang, 6-3, to secure the doubles point, while Addie Eklund and Rebecca Hess took the third doubles match, 6-4, over Jasmin Toor and Lilly Caldwell to finish off the doubles sweep.
 
Montero gave the Raiders their first singles point as well, topping Toor at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-0, while Libby battled back in the second set after dropping the first set at No. 1 singles, 6-0, but ended up falling, 6-4, to Galin to give Colgate a 3-0 advantage.
 
Colgate then clinched the win at No. 3 singles, where Anya Kunar defeated Yang, 6-1, 6-4, and the Raiders would add three more points to finish off the sweep and 7-0 victory.
 
At No. 4 singles, Bravo fell to Eklund, 6-1, 6-3, while at No. 5 singles, Sasha Herman beat Karnam, 6-1, 6-2. In the final matchup of the day, Neha Dania took two points in each set but fell to Hess, 6-2, 6-2, finishing off the Raiders' 7-0 win.
 
Rochester drops back to .500 at 2-2 with the loss, while the Raiders move to 3-4 with the win.
 
The Yellowjackets next head to Ithaca, NY for the first of two road matches, taking on the Ithaca College Bombers on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10:00 a.m. before heading up to Canton, NY to face St. Lawrence on Sunday, Feb. 23.
