CAYUGA, NY – The University of Rochester rowing team opened up the 2025 spring schedule with a pair of dual races in both the 1V and 2V boats against host Ithaca College and William Smith College on Saturday afternoon at the Cayuga Inlet.
 
UR's opponents both entered the competition in the Division III top-15, with Ithaca ranking #6 and William Smith sitting at #12 in the most recent Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) poll.
 
Unfortunately for the Yellowjackets, it was a sour start to the spring, as both the William Smith and Ithaca 1V and 2V entries were victorious in the days racing.
 
During the first session, Rochester took on William Smith. In the 1V race, William Smith's boat crossed the finish in 7:00.1, with the Yellowjackets top entry clocking in at 7:26.1. Shortly after, the Herons 2V earned another win, beating out UR 7:07.9 to 7:55.9.
 
In the afternoon racing, the 'Jackets battled host Ithaca, with the Bombers sweeping Rochester. The 1V Rochester entry finished in 7:28.42, with Ithaca earning the win in 6:54.41. Ithaca's 2V later rowed to a time of 7:25.16, with Rochester's second entry clocking in at 8:11.73.
 
Up next, the Yellowjackets have a week off before returning to the water at the New York State Collegiate Championships on April 19 in Saratoga Springs, NY.
