5/14/2025 2:45:00 PM

Earlier this spring, University of Rochester senior Raquel Williams of the women's basketball team, was awarded the Athletic Leadership Award at the annual University of Rochester Student Life Awards reception.

These annual awards, also known as "The Rocky's," recognize undergraduate students who—through service to others, investment of talent and time, and pursuit of excellence—have significantly and positively impacted the University of Rochester or surrounding community.

The Athletic Leadership Award honors students who have contributed to campus life and demonstrated leadership within their club or varsity sport.

Williams was a four-year letterwinner for the Yellowjackets basketball team, playing in 82 career games over her time on the River Campus. She was a three-time UAA All-Academic selection and twice received Academic All-District praise from the College Sports Communicators.

Away from basketball, Williams was President and founder of the University of Rochester's Black Student Athlete Coalition (BSAC), while also being a part of the Black Student Union and Committee of Political Engagement. She graduates this spring with her degree from the University in Health Policy and Black Studies.
