#25 Judges Defeat Rochester 6-1

WALTHAM, MA – The University of Rochester tennis team battled a UAA opponent just a few weeks ahead of the upcoming conference championships in Florida, with host Brandeis University pulling away for a 6-1 win on Saturday morning at the Cordish Tennis Center.

URochester's record drops to 6-9 with one match left in the regular season. Brandeis, ranked #25 in the latest Division III poll, improves to 10-4 in dual matches this season.

The Judges started quick, earning three impressive wins in doubles to secure the team doubles point. URochester's first doubles team of Rahul Ravi and Josh Chu were the closest match, falling to Pierce Garbett and Daniel Shemesh 6-2.

It was all Brandeis after that though, with the Judges taking the rest of the points, four of which came in straight sets.

At two, Pierce Garbett won 6-3, 6-2 over Ravi to pull Brandeis back in front. Oliver Lorenz followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number four against Kavin Shukla.

The match-clinching win was then earned at the number three position, as Brandeis' Huasen Dong winning 6-2, 6-4 against Alan Wang.
