PRINCE ATHLETIC COMPLEX – The University of Rochester women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 6-1 win over SUNY Geneseo on Saturday at the Lyman Tennis Center.
With the win, the 'Jackets finish the regular season with an 8-9 record, while the Knights fall to 9-5 on the year.
Rochester made quick work of the Knights in doubles play, winning all three matches to go up 1-0 against SUNY Geneseo.
Neha Dania and
Lauren Kallas combined to top Rachel Molloy and Samantha Rava at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, while
Sanjana Karnam and
Jasmin Toor added another 6-1 victory over JoAnn Catalano and Natalie Pipes at No. 1 doubles to secure the doubles point.
Lilly Caldwell and
Esther Wang then finished off the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Talia Wutz and Emily Kamber, before things moved into singles play, where the Yellowjackets kept on rolling.
Hailey Kornbluth scored Rochester's first win in singles action, topping Rava at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0. Toor then made it 3-0 'Jackets with a 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Molloy at No. 3 singles, putting URochester in position to clinch the match.
Kallas would do exactly that at No. 5 singles, with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lauren Levatino to clinch the win for the Yellowjackets. But Rochester wouldn't stop there, adding two more wins at No. 6 and 4 singles, before a late victory by the Knights pulled the final score to 6-1.
Dania defeated Wutz at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-3, while Karnam earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Catalano at No. 4 singles.
Katie Yang and Pipes then wrapped up the match at No. 1 singles, with Pipes taking things in three games, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Dania, Kallas, Karnam and Toor were all double-winners for the Yellowjackets, each picking up wins in doubles and singles action.
The Yellowjackets will next head to Orlando, FL, for the 2025-26 UAA Tennis Championship, beginning on Friday, April 24.
