Five Receive Weekly Conference Awards

Members from three University of Rochester spring teams received a total of five Liberty League weekly honors on Monday afternoon, as announced by the conference.
 
Softball's honors were earned by junior Riley Laygo and senior Maddie White. Laygo was named Performer of the Week, while White received Pitcher of the Week accolades. In track and field, both Ethan Kaufman of men's track and field and Lauren Murphy of women's track and field were picked as Rookie's of the Week in their respective sports, while junior Nora Chen was named women's Track Performer of the Week.
 
Laygo was named Most Outstanding Performer at the Liberty League Championships over the weekend, leading URochester to claiming the conference title with a 4-1 record. The junior infielder hit .538 (7-for-13) with 9 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 home run and 5 RBI to pace UR's offense. She added four walks for a .647 OBP, slugged .923 and added three stolen bases while going 30-for-30 in defensive chances. Laygo's best game came in the tournament opener against St. Lawrence, when the junior went 2-for-3 with 3 runs, 3 RBI and a double and home run.
 
White was outstanding in the circle for the Yellowjackets during the teams run to the Liberty League Tournament title over the weekend. Overall, the senior went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA over 11 innings pitched, allowing 7 hits, 1 run and 0 walks while striking out 11 batters. She had her best game in championship game one against Ithaca on Saturday, tossing a complete-game 2-hitter, allowing one run and no walks while striking out five in UR's 2-1 victory to stay alive in the tournament. She also earned the victory a day earlier in the elimination game against St. Lawrence, tossing three scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts.
 
Chen was a double-winner on the track for URochester as the Yellowjackets competed at the Ithaca College In-Between Meet on Saturday. The junior posted a personal-best time of 24.78 seconds in the 200 meters, placing first in what is the #2 time in the Liberty League this season. Additionally, Chen anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay team that finished in 3:48.59, the top Liberty League time and #21 ranked Division III time in 2026.
 
Murphy had three top-2 results for the Yellowjackets, competing at Ithaca over the weekend. The first-year jumper secured first place in the long jump with a mark of 5.50 meters and was second in the triple jump, posting a top distance of 11.26 meters. Additionally, Murphy ran on URochester's winning 4x400 meter relay that posted a time of 3:48.59, a season-best in the Liberty League and current #21 time in Division III this year. All three marks were qualifying performances for the All-Atlantic Region meet.
 
Kaufman hit a season-best mark of 51.38 meters in the hammer throw, earning a runner-up finish among 17 athletes at the Ithaca College In-Between Meet on Saturday afternoon. The first-year hit the AARTFC standard in the meet and posted the fourth-best toss in the Liberty League this season during the performance.
