LA CROSSE, WI – University of Rochester graduate Molly FitzGibbons secured All-America honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals to lead the University of Rochester women's track & field team on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Wisconsin-La Crosse at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.

FitzGibbons was one of three Yellowjackets in action on Friday, along with juniors Nora Chen and Aimee Oszer.

FitzGibbons wrapped up the 'Jackets' day with the 3,000-meter steeplechase, having qualified for the final with her ninth-place finish in the prelims on Thursday. The graduate student would replicate that finish on Friday, clocking in at 10:35.29, good for ninth place and Second-Team All-America honors.

FitzGibbons nets her fourth-career All-America honor and becomes the first student-athlete in women's track & field program history to earn All-America honors in the steeplechase, and the first in URochester track & field program history since Brian Lang in 2011.

Elsewhere on the track, Chen placed 18th in the 100-meter hurdle prelims, crossing the finish line in 14.90 seconds. The junior ran in the second heat and finished sixth in the heat and 18th overall.

Oszer began Rochester's day with the shot put and came in 19th with a 12.54m throw. Competing in the first flight, Oszer's first throw came in at 12.50m, and after a foul on her second throw, the junior hit 12.54m with her third throw and finished the event in 19th place.

Through eight scored events, the hosts, Wisconsin-La Crosse, lead the field with 20 points, with a three-way tie for second between Central College, Centre and Whitworth, each of which has scored 18 points.

Chen and the Yellowjackets will be back in action on Saturday, May 22, to wrap up the DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Chen will run in the 400-meter hurdle finals at approximately 3:15 p.m. CT, while first-year Lauren Murphy will compete in the triple jump, beginning at 2:00 p.m. CT.
