The University of Rochester women's track and field team saw four individuals receive All-America honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday afternoon, following their performances at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships this past weekend.
Junior
Nora Chen and first-year
Lauren Murphy were both First Team All-America honorees by finishing in the top-8 in their respective events, while graduate student
Molly FitzGibbons and junior
Aimee Oszer were Second Team All-America honorees.
Athletes of USTFCCCA member institutions who finished in the top eight of their respective individual events and relays at the DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships last week took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually and ninth through 12th as part of a relay earned Second-Team All-America.
Murphy was the highest-finishing Yellowjacket, claiming third place in the triple jump competition with a school-record jump of 12.48 meters. The first-year actually broke her own Yellowjacket triple jump record a total of three times during the competition, coming in rounds two, three and six during the prelims and finals. Overall, the third place finish is the best-ever at NCAA's for a URochester female triple jump athlete, spanning four total appearances at nationals.
Chen competed at NCAA's in three events, earning her All-America award in the 400 meter hurdles. The junior scored a seventh place result in the finals with a time of 1:01.79 after just missing the school-record with a prelim time of 59.62 seconds. Chen also was on UR's 14th place 4x400 meter relay and finished 18th individually in the 100 meter hurdles for the Yellowjackets. Her All-America award in 2026 is the fifth of her career for outdoor track and field, with four of those honors being First Team awards.
FitzGibbons placed ninth overall in the 3000 meter steeplechase last weekend for URochester, securing her second career outdoor All-America award, and first with URochester. The graduate student crossed the finish in 10:35.29 during the finals after setting a new UR school record of 10:30.06 during the preliminary heats. Her ninth place finish is also the best-ever by a Yellowjacket female runner at NCAA's, with three others previously qualifying for that event at nationals.
Oszer made her first NCAA appearance count, earning Second Team All-America honors for a 12th place result in the discus last week. The junior thrower earned a top mark of 43.48 meters during the competition. Oszer also qualified in the shot put at the NCAA meet and ended 19th, with her appearances in both the discus and shot put being URochester's first-ever at outdoor NCAA's by a female athlete in team history.
As a squad, the Yellowjackets accumulated eight team points at the meet, ranking in a tie for 32nd place among 78 total teams that scored over the 3-day meet, hosted in La Crosse, Wisconsin. URochester's women have now scored at least one point in nine straight NCAA Division III meets outdoors, finishing in the top-35 finishing teams in eight of those appearances.
