Spikers 2-1 in UAA Round Robin

The women's volleyball team is tied for third place with Emory after the first of two scheduled UAA Round Robin Tournaments.

On Saturday, the Yellowjackets defeated Case Western Reserve, 3-0. On Sunday, they defeated Brandeis, 3-0. They lost their third match, 3-1, to sixth-ranked Washington.

Emory and Rochester are tied at 2-1 after the first round robin. NYU and Washington both head the pack at 3-0.

Rochester defeated Case, 30-25, 30-24, 30-22. The Yellowjackets topped Brandeis, 30-28, 30-27, 30-24. They lost to Washington, 30-25, 18-30, 17-30, 26-30.

Against CWRU, Kate Czarniak had 15 kills and three blocks. Susan Johnson had 16 kills. Liz Loveless added 41 assists and Grace Kraay had 29 digs.

Loveless had 38 assists and 23 digs vs. Brandeis. Johnson had 21 kills, Haley Massa had 11 kills, and Kraay had 18 digs.

In the match against the Bears, Johnson had 14 kills and 21 digs. Kristen Vogt added 15 kills and five blocks. Loveless had 45 assists, and Kraay had 27 digs.

The second round robin will be held at the University of Chicago on Oct. 16-17. The Yellowjackets will play Chicago, Emory, NYU, and Carnegie Mellon. The latter three are ranked in the current Division III poll issued by the AVCA.

Rochester is 13-5.
