'Jackets Split With WU, BU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Rochester split a pair of matches at the University Athletic Association volleyball round robin on Saturday, losing to Washington, and beating Brandeis. The Yellowjackets lost, 16-30, 12-30, 24-30 to top-ranked Washington, then bounced back to beat Brandeis in four, 25-30, 30-27, 30-23, 30-22.

Sam Carr had 42 assists against the Judges. Susan Johnson had 20 kills and 23 digs. Andrea Wagonseller had 12 kills and 19 digs. Kaitlyn Gorczynski had 16 digs, and Kate Czarniak had eight kills and seven blocks.

In the Washington match, Carr had 15 assists. Johnson had seven kills and nine digs. Wagonseller contributed 11 digs, and Gorczynski had 13 digs.

Rochester is 18-8 overall, 2-3 in the UAA. The Yellowjackets will play Carnegie Mellon and Chicago on Sunday. Final results from the round robin will determine seedings for the UAA championships to be held at Brandeis in early November.
