The women's swimming and diving team got off to a successful start with a 136-102 victory over RPI on Meliora Saturday at the Speegle Wilbraham Aquatic Complex.
The Yellowjacket women were dominant, winning eight of the first 11 events before competing on an exhibition basis in the last two.
Kari Joyce and Danielle Scherry were double winners. Joyce was first in the 50 freestyle (0:25.41) and the 100 freestyle (0:55.42). Scherry, the Rookie of the Year in the Liberty League last season, finished first in the 200 freestyle (2:04.58) and the 500 freestyle (5:28.34).
Michele Gruen won the 1000 freestyle (11:05.17). Kathryn Monti won the 200 IM (2:24.99). Patricia McHale won both diving events. She scored a 226.95 on the one meter board and a 211.73 on the three meter board.
Rochester's quartet of Gruen, Scherry, Monti, and Erin Szajta was clocked in 3:57.47 in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming the event as an exhibition.
